Ryan Motes and Luke Brown win the Speed Williams Invitational Match Roping

LAS VEGAS - The Speed Williams Invitational Match Roping known as Speed’s Match Roping was help December 14, 2008 at the South Point Hotel & Casino Equestrian Center. Thirty-four teams competed for a $134,000 payout that included a guaranteed $50,000 for first place. The format was head to head matches with double elimination, which is new in the world of team roping. The competition was excellent with some outstanding runs and great cattle provided by the World Series of Team Roping.

The winners were Luke Brown and Ryan Motes winning $50,000, Coats Saddles and Carroll Original Wear leather coats. The pair beat a total of six teams, roped 12 steers and averaged 8.14 in route to winning the competition. There was $25,000 in bounties offered from the Sponsors.  Luke Brown and Ryan Motes split the Resistol and Speed’s Match Roping bounty each winning $2,500 each. Ryan also won the Coats Saddlery Bounty of $2,500.
