Fast Back cowboys crowned Open champions at Sweetest Loop Breast Cancer Benefit - May, 2008

HAMILTON, TX – For the third year in a row, the Circle T Arena in Hamilton, Texas has been the host of the “Sweetest Loop” benefit roping. The three-day event started Friday, May 2nd, with a five-head Open roping with $10,000 in added money. This year’s Open champions were Fast Back cowboys, Speed Williams and Patrick Smith with an aggregate time of 33.74 on five head, earning the team $10,650.

The event also included a Pro-Am roping with separate ropings for headers and heelers. The Pro Am champion heeler, Cody D. Lever of San Antonio, roped with Charly Crawford for a combined check of $3,310. The Pro Am champion header, Bobby J. Jackson, Hindsville, AR partnered with Monty Joe Petska earning a combined check of $6,205.

The title event is a #11 with $15,000 in added money. The 2008 Sweetest Loop champions were Troy Arnold and Max Vincent, both of Oklahoma, who posted a 36.69 on four-head to split $35,000.

2008 donations should exceed the $43,000 donated last year, according to Ken Beshears of Circle T Arena. Beneficiaries of these donations will be Scott & White Hospital of Temple, Texas and Hamilton General Hospital in Hamilton, Texas.
